tree well safety

A tree well is a hole in snow next to a tree. the tree branches on a tree keep the snow from getting packed up. so that the snow is really light and creates a hole.
Tree wells are dangerous because if you get stuck in one headfirst you could suffocate.  It is really difficult, almost impossible, to get out when you are headfirst in a tree well.  It iis hard to get out when you go in feet first too... but at least then you can breath!
how to prevent getting stuck in a tree well. always ski with a partner because if you get stuck they can dig you out. or put a whistle in your pocket. Try to make a space in front of your face so you can breath. Skiing or riding in treed areas and deep snow is a choice your quick actions to pull or dig them out are your partner's best hope for survival
